Bint El Sudan, once known as the world’s best selling perfume, as well as “Africa’s Chanel No. 5”, was introduced in 1920. The word “Bint” in Arabic translates to “daughter” or “girl”, hence “Bint El Sudan” becomes “Daughter of Sudan” or “Sudanese girl”. This perfume eventually became an essential part of weddings and other Sudanese rituals.
The art work of the perfume (as printed on the hoodie) was a photograph taken by Eric Burgess, showing a topless Sudanese girl dressed in elephants hair skirt and bridal jewelry on her ankles and wrists.
